November 30, 2014

I've decided for approximately the 17th time in 6 years to start on my blog again. Here's our rough draft Christmas letter.

December, 2014

Hello friends and family!

This year was another eventful one for our little growing family.

The biggest news is that our little Reuben was born on May 29, 2014. (His middle name has less to do with the fact we live in Wyoming and more to do with the fact it’s a family name.) He weighed 8’13” at birth and now weighs in at over 20 lbs! I’m never sure what to call him- little guy or big guy?! He is a joyful chunk of smiles. He sleeps well, he eats well, he smiles constantly and has begun to laugh more and more often. He adores his sister and will watch her whenever she is in the room. He’s attempting solid foods, but still much prefers milk. He is the cuddliest baby and oddly enough, may have the part of baby Jesus in our churches’ live nativity. Can you imagine a 20 lb Jesus at birth? Aggghhh… is all I can think.

Jane turned 2 on November 13th and she is a bright bubble of blue-eyed energy. She loves the snow, her baby brother, sheep, climbing, splashing, boxes, bubbles, cheese, anything with sugar, being pretty, the park and so many other discoveries she has made this year. To brag just a little, Jane knows her letters by sight, can count (almost) reliably to twenty, and is a beautiful genius according to her parents. J

Sam is in his 4th and almost final semester of his Radiological Technician Associates Degree. He will finish the degree and take the boards to become a certified Rad. Tech in March or April! He will then enter the bachelor’s program, again at Weber State, to become certified in MRI. As an added bonus, Sam was also hired on at the hospital here in Evanston with his temporary license. He is obviously impressing his bosses and professors and enjoys learning about his field. He tells me all sorts of gory hospital stories that I wimp out just hearing. I know he makes lasting impressions for the better on his patients. He is an amazing husband and father and his family adores him. Not only does he go to school full-time and work part-time, but he also watches the kids during the week. He deserves a medal.

I am keeping busy as well. This is my 3rd year teaching Spanish at Davis Middle School in Evanston, Wyoming. I love working with those hilarious, hyperactive and hormonal kids. I keep busy being mom, working with scouts, teaching English online, coaching volleyball, teaching a Spanish class for Western Wyoming Community College and learning my limitations. J My favorite time is spent with family- both in Wyoming and in Washington.

Our summer was spent in Washington with family and what a joy that was. We recently moved into a house in town and out of our small apartment. The greatest feature of the new home is the garage. We don’t have to lug one and sometimes two children to the car 300 yards away in the blizzardy weather! Hallelujah!

We are enjoying this crazy little thing called love and life. We are blessed even amongst crazy times. We love you all and wish the best for each of you.
